The OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF) has a central role in the OpenStreetMap community. The mantra “support, but not control” is frequently repeated within the OSMF. How does that work? How can one support, but not exert some sort of control? As the OpenStreetMap Community evolves and changes the OSMF will also adapt. This talk will go over the historic role of the OSMF, where we are at the moment and some personal thoughts about the future. Those individuals and organizations that attend this talk will also learn what it takes to get involved and what the benefits are for joining the OSMF.
