GIS Analyst Telenav Quality Assurance

Customer feedback from Telenav’s OpenStreetMap driven Scout navigation application has highlighted map data issues within the United States. This session explores how Telenav’s Map Data team responded to the feedback by improving the Map in the rapidly developing suburban area north of Dallas, Texas.

We will detail (1) how the team leveraged publicly available GIS data and aerial imagery to improve OpenStreetMap and identify locations that would require field survey; and (2) how we collected and post processed nearly 40 hours of video and GPS traces to improve OpenStreetMap data. We hope this shared experience will serve as a catalyst for greater collaboration between our team and the wider OpenStreetMap community for further improving the Map.
